Bio

A member of the Royal Guard, and protector of the corporation that runs a piece of the city. An android with a far greater attachment to humanity than her leader, she conveys a certain warmth and understanding that doesn't match up with the cruelty she enables. Always bubbly and cheerful, but with a tendency to become shy and reticent in unfamiliar situations.

Her heart is extremely weak and her emotions are often more than she can handle. Nostalgia, and longing for a past comfort that can never be experienced again, cause her great enough anguish to lead her into the Royal Guard's arms. Here, she hopes, she can fight for a world that never changes.

Despite clear acknowledgement from both parties that Sable is not interested in romance, Azure is perfectly comfortable basking in her shadow in unrequited adoration. This does not stop her from developing a crush on every other woman she meets, nor does it drive her to act on those feelings any more than just getting flustered. While seemingly content with this arrangement, her desire for a real relationship may force her to confront her aversion to change.

Character Relations

Rio

Exactly one of Azure's many types. If Rio would call off the union and go back to the normal everyday life she loves then she wouldn't mind spending more time together. Rio says a lot of things that are highly confronting to Azure about letting go of the past and living in the present, so they don't get along very well. Despite this Azure keeps trying to get her to see things her way. Maybe she subconciously knows she needs to confront her worldview.

Sable

Basically already in a relationship in a "forever pining" kind of way. It's entirely one-sided, and a little forced on Azure's part. Sable doesn't have a lot of romantic traits or emotional intelligence for Azure to latch onto, so she's mostly just left thinking Sable is really cool when she fights and looks pretty most other times. Her gratitude towards Sable for letting her effectively live in an eternal present that doesn't have to become nothing but a heartbreaking memory is genuine, though

Updated reference, I'm not very familiar with drawing a cute pose but this works well enough to demonstrate a bit of character.

Normal reference sheet. This still doesn't feel decisively final yet, but it's getting there. She's a bit plain and mousey in a friendly sort of way without having every edge filed off, and I think that vibe is just barely starting to come through.

Battle forme, I'm not sure about the colors but I'm going for something blue and white. It should look more shrimp-themed too, but for now this is the gist.

This is the rare one time I remembered to draw the buttons in the middle of the blouse. Despite moving away from it in the default design it's important that she's a little bit punk/grunge, as is unavoidable of the "late 90s/early 00s" type.

Old material

Old designs while figuring out what the default outfit should be. Ultimately I wasn't satisfied with any of these as much as what I started with, mostly.

Portrait sprites for a small RPG demo, it was around this point that I started getting dissatisfied with the design.

Battle forme, much more of a magical girl style than what I'm currently going for but I could honestly stand to change it back to something closer to this.
